We are starting to get a little more infor on what's happening with Mello Yello............ I've seen alot of POS, giveaways, etc... that is going to be tied in with it. They are going all out with it, and I really hope it works. From what I understand, it's going back in the places that it has not been in a long time now, and there will be some very aggresive pricing with it. It should fall in line with the Vault price point, if not cheaper. Lots of coupons for it as well. Should be interesting to see what they do with Vault if it takes off.

Interesting..I hope they bring back those LE's they had so I can try them...I liked Mello Yello better then vault..even tho its not close to MT.Dew at least coke can build off a well established brand instead of trying to create one out of thin air that isn't doing anything to the Mt.Dew market share.

Look, Vault is never going to catch MD. It's not going to even come close. It does fairly well down here still, but for every 1 we take in, they bring 5-7 Dew in. It's a Monster and we all know it. Mello Yello is very well established thoughk, and will be promoted with ads, etc.. nationwide for the first time in over 20 years. It will be interesting to see what it does. Well it take over Dew? Heck no. But ever little thing you have to peck away at that monster helps.

Vault seems to pop up about every few months here but goes away (or sold like crazy. There was a sale on Coke products and by the time I got to the soda secyion only a slightly dented box was left Shocked ). I got some on a trip upstate, but I thought I'd find some here, but a search tonight led me to believe they don't have any.
I hope Mello Yello comes to the NE, I found some in a machine at a local Chuck-E-Cheeses thanks to a cousins b-day party (it sure got me happier).

Bham: I agree fully..thats why I always compare your plight with establishing a citrus soda versus our Mt.dew comparable to us(pepsi) making a dent on Sprite with S.Mist ...one thing I can say is at least we stuck with Mist and it is doing well enough to keep around but DAMN is it usually the one that goes OOD far more often then not(at least in our "core 6")...hell the coke guys around in my area have all but given up on Vault..in a lot of stores they have taken vault not just out of their cooler sets but out of their shelf sets as well...kind of sad. We have to mandatorily keep Mist in all our cooler/shelf/display ad sets.

It's still a mandatory flavor on all our displays still. Coke Zero was at first, and everybody laughed, and grumbled. Now look at it's become. You can not give up on a brand so quick.

Vault is going to a 20oz only flavor for us in MD, but VA is keeping 12 packs as well. And it's not in the sets for large store coolers.

Whether Vault, Surge, Mello Yello, whatever is competing or not with Dew, I'm just glad MY is coming back.

I wonder how many times Mello Yello has been relaunched in the last 30 years...

Well I have worked for Coca Cola for 12 years now, and do not remember it being relaunced one time(if this helps you out). If anything, it has been a neglected citrus brand, with us focusing on Surge, Citra, and Vault in all that time.

It wasn't relaunched after Surge was discontinued?

It was. They launched the Mello Yello 2000 Graphics and remember the Melon, Cherry & Afterglow flavours they sold circa 2001-2003?

I know Consolidated had all 3 of them at one time.

Maybe new graphics, and flavor extensions, but I know as long as I have been with the company it has tasted the same.

Consolidated only ever did Cherry and Afterglow I believe (at least in the WV part of their territory). I think Coke United and CCE were the only ones who ever had Melon.

Vault going away here doesn't surprise me. In PA, it still seems to have a following, or at least a place in store sets. It's funny that CCE in PA is now pretty heavy on citrus having Mello Yello, Vault, Vault Zero and Vault Red Blitz still. They used to be the only area here that didn't have any Citrus.

Consolidated now does Mello Yello in 2L contours, but no Vault. Their selection anymore in WV is pretty pitiful. Makes Cleveland Coke look strong. 2L contours are basically only the basics. No Cherry or Vanilla Zero in 2L. No Vault anything, only regular Seagram's. I believe they only have Fanta Orange too, no Grape or Strawberry.

CCE did Cherry as well. Cincinnati produced it. I remember it having promo labels.

I know CCE did the Mello Yello extensions out of Cleveland, TN (CV) and sold them in that territory throughout TN and AL that they have. I don't think the extensions made it past there or the old Tri-State CCE areas.
